Citadel's associate AD charged with soliciting prostitute

From Channel 5 WCSC in Charleston:

An associate athletic director at The Citadel was arrested in early September for soliciting a prostitute in North Charleston, according to a police report.

The report states Senior Associate Athletic Director Robert Paul Plunkett, 61, was arrested on Sept. 5 after he offered to pay an undercover cop posing as a prostitute for oral sex.

According to the report, Plunkett approached the officer in the area of Remount Road and Dobson Drive around 5 p.m. and offered her a ride in his blue Toyota. The undercover officer told him yes and "to meet with her on Leiderman Street," the report states.

Police say the undercover officer then "re-approached" Plunkett, who again asked her if she needed a quick ride. Then the officer asked Plunkett if he wanted oral sex in the car. Police say Plunkett replied "yes" and then told her he was looking to spend "$30."

He was later taken into custody.

Plunkett is an administrator in the athletic department. He is a Citadel graduate in the class of 1973. In 2006-2007, he was the special assistant to President John Rosa.

He is also a member of the school's Advisory Board, whose goals are to influencethe lives of the young leaders of tomorrow who are the future of our state and nation, interactwith prominent faculty and administrators of the School and The Citadel,  and interactwith other individuals of exceptional personal achievement and reputation.
